Position Title: Aide - Instructional
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or G.E.D.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality about students and any experiences associate with them.
- Valid Ohio Department of Education Permit appropriate for the assignment.
- Self-directed and able to learn required skills for the position.
- Congenial disposition and strong diplomacy skills.
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Offers instructional support for teachers. Works with small groups and/or individual students. Seeks advice when expectations are unclear.
2. Helps students with remedial and/or enrichment activities. Reinforces instructional objectives introduced by the teacher. Maintains a positive learning environment.
3. Provides behavioral intervention support when needed. Avoids being intrusive. Solves student concerns discreetly.
4. Supports an inclusive educational environment. Helps students with disabilities participate in appropriate peer group activities as directed.
5. Collects data as directed.
6. Takes precautions to ensure staff/student safety. Does not leave students unsupervised.
7. Maintains high standards and upholds the student conduct code.
8. Works with the classroom teacher to address persistent behavior problems and provide positive behavioral support.
9. Supervises non-classroom activities as directed (e.g., arrival/departure, lunch. recess, field trips, library, computer lab, etc.).
10. Promotes the proper use and care of school property. Reports student discipline problems, vandalism, and other related concerns.
11. Reports evidence of suspected child abuse and neglect as required by law.
12. Performs clerical work related to classroom activities. Prepares and distributes classroom materials. Maintains records as directed.
13. Prepares classroom equipment for use.
14. Helps keep program and storage areas orderly.
15. Participates in parent conferences, open houses, and other required events as requested.
16. Participates in district staff meetings and professional growth opportunities as requested.
17. Strives to develop rapport and serves as a positive role model for others.
18. Perform other specific job-related duties as directed.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue.
2. Occasional interaction among unruly children.
3. Many situations that require hand motion, e.g. computer keyboard, typing, writing.
4. Consistent requirements to sit, stand, walk, hear, see, read, speak, reach, stretch with hands and arms, crouch, kneel, climb, and stoop.
5. May require working under time constraints to meet deadlines. |
